The United Kingdom’s Advertising Standard Agency decided that one of Israel’s tourism posters could not be used in England. What bothered the ASA so much? Israel used a picture of the Western Wall (known as the Kotel to Israelis), inviting tourists to come and visit the many religious sites such as this one.
Above the Western Wall loomed the Dome of the Rock, built by the Muslims seventeen centuries after Solomon’s Temple. (It’s hard to hide when snapping a picture of the Kotel.)
Ever since Israel recaptured her ancient capital in 1967, the Western Wall has been the most recognized image of the reborn nation of Israel. It is all that is left of that magnificent structure built to hold the shekinah glory of the God of Israel
God sometimes speaks through volcanos:
“And it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain… Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.” Exodus 19:16-17
